The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians
The Salesian Sisters, formally known as the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), are a central part of the Salesian Family. Founded by St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello in the 19th century, the Sisters share the same mission: serving young people, especially those who are poor and disadvantaged.
Working alongside the Salesians of Don Bosco, the Sisters are dedicated to the holistic formation of youth — nurturing their spiritual, intellectual, and social development. They are present in communities across the Anglophone West Africa Province, including Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
Their Mission
- Providing quality education and vocational training for young women and girls.
- Creating safe, nurturing environments where young people can grow in faith and confidence.
- Accompanying youth on their journey toward becoming responsible, self-empowered citizens.
- Offering pastoral care and spiritual guidance rooted in the Salesian charism.
Like all members of the Salesian Family, the Sisters live out Don Bosco's preventive system — based on reason, religion, and loving-kindness — in their daily work with the young.
