(AFW – Kenya) –Update on Global Program Workshop at Roussel House Karen, Nairobi – Kenya.

(Nairobi – Kenya) -Eleven countries from the African and Madagascan Region within the Salesian Congregation have been selected to benefit from this program. The main topic of discussion is centered on the “Project Pillars”. One group of six is concentrating on the first and second pillars while the other is strategizing on the implementation of the “fourth pillar” of the project which is “GREEN TVET”   Five countries will benefit from this pillar with two specially chosen to be modern, world class and state of the art GREEN “CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE”. These CoE learning places will be where global environmental best practices will be taught and implemented in the two chosen countries. The other three countries will concentrate and be deeply involved in GREEN CLUBS and GREEN CULTURE activities.   Below are the five countries in GREEN TVET pillar:
  1. Nigeria – Centre of Excellence.
  2. Burundi – Centre of Excellence
  3. Madagascar – Green Club
  4. Angola – Green Club
  5. Kenya – Green Club.
JOBITECH Onitsha in Nigeria and Don Bosco TVET Centre Buterere in Burundi are the implementing “Centres of Excellence”   At the moment, serious deliberations, experience sharing, exchange of ideas and random brainstorming are taking place among the green TVET beneficiaries with Nigeria leading the English group and Burundi, the French group.   The introduction of these technologies in Don Bosco TVET in Nigeria will create a new awareness in our young people and other stakeholders. This will give birth to a new spirit of consciousness thereby awakening the mind to embrace this “new” reality. Our young people will become Vanguards that will encourage and promote a healthier, greener and safer environment for themselves and future generations.   It is also expected that new jobs opportunities would be created in these areas for the benefit of young people.   Mr Cletus E.
