(Ashiaman-Ghana),4/06/2019 – It was the day and at exactly 5:30pm was the time when the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra Archdiocese Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie CSSP paid a pastoral visit to the Salesian communities of Bld Atemide Zatti and St Francis de Sales.
Having been installed Archbishop about three (3) months ago, his visit was to know the Salesian communities in the Archdiocese and their work with young people. Present during his visit were the Confrères of both Salesian communities in Ashaiman, Members of the Provincial Council, lay collaborators and few students from Don Bosco Technical Institute Ashaiman.
Welcome MassThe Archbishop was welcomed by the Provincial Fr Micheal Karrikunnel and all present. At he Chapel of the Provincial House Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie CSSP celebrated Mass with the community.
Meeting With Salesians The meeting which took place at the Provincial House conference room helped Archbishop to know the work of Salesians in the Archdiocese.
He saw a video of our activities in Accra Confrères heading different sectors gave more concrete explanations about the mission. Other Confrères working in Liberia and Nigeria also shared about the mission with the young in those countries as Archbishop had some part of his formation there.
He equally wished Confrères working in The Gambia and Sierra Leone were present to share also about the mission with the young in those countries.
The Archbishop thanked the Salesians for the great work done in the Archdiocese and said He will be calling on the Salesians for assistance as regards capacity training for young people in the Archdiocese to alleviate poverty and unemployment among the youths in the Archdiocese which the Salesians are very willing to collaborate with the Archdiocese.
He also admonished the Salesians to join him to build the Archdiocese as is stressed “Together let’s build.”
The visit ended with a fraternal meal shared together. With the food prepared by the Catering department of Don Bosco Technical School Ashaiman.
We thank our dear Archbishop for his visit and assure him of our prayers and we will strive more to help young people build up their talent and aptitude to full maturity as they prepare for the field of work.
